PostPro Talent Lab 2024 – World Bank Initiative

The PostPro Talent Lab (PPTL), a groundbreaking initiative by the World Bank, in partnership with Spellbound Leo Burnett and Motion People Studios Ltd., has emerged as a game-changer for Bangladesh’s post-production industry. Over an immersive six-month journey, 24 rising stars in editing, color grading, sound design, and post-production supervision were mentored by some of the finest experts in the global film industry.

The PostPro Talent Lab (PPTL), a groundbreaking initiative by the World Bank, in partnership with Spellbound Leo Burnett and Motion People Studios Ltd., has emerged as a game-changer for Bangladesh’s post-production industry. Over an immersive six-month journey, 24 rising stars in editing, color grading, sound design, and post-production supervision were mentored by some of the finest experts in the global film industry.

At the heart of this transformative program, the fellows crafted three original short films, showcasing their ability to weave technical precision with artistic storytelling. The 2024 Screening Gala became a showcase of visionary narratives, featuring the films The Great Escape, A Flower in the Desert, and Can You Hear Me?—each a testament to the fellow`s mastery of the craft and their passion for elevating the local industry to international acclaim.

International Mentors

The journey was guided by three legendary mentors, whose combined expertise helped shape the fellow`s growth:

  • Steve M. Choe - An acclaimed Korean-American editor whose artistry has defined Snowpiercer, Revenant, and A Time Called You. He is a Professor at the Korean National University of Arts, imparting his vast knowledge to the next generation.
  • Han Myung-hwan – A celebrated sound designer/mixer from South Korea, known for his iconic works on Silenced (2011), Ode to My Father (2014), and Wonderland (2024), his soundscapes elevate every narrative.
  • Chai Yee Wei – A visionary Singaporean filmmaker, founder of Mocha Chai Laboratories, renowned for his unique storytelling in Blood Ties and That Girl in Pinafore.

These mentors provided world-class guidance to the fellows, helping them refine their skills and infuse their work with international cinematic standards.
